The league made copy for the local papers this month, the leagues 50th birthday was highlighted.
Treasurer Dave Smith was interviewed on Radio Berkshire and trolley shop ladies were photographed for the trust internal magazine as well as appearing in the local papers.

The league of friends begins it's 50th year of voluntary service, serving the hospital at Heatherwood. The radio station took great pride in presenting one of the specially commissioned commemorative mugs to a grateful patient Bruce Dunsford on ward 4 last night.

Bruce joins a long line of lucky winners of mugs. The first mugs were given away in 1993 and a number of designs have been available. Patients who make requests each night go into a draw and will qualify for a chance to win a mug.
Monday team Celsio D'souza, Katie Ayers and Ian Shephard were on hand to see the presentation went without a hitch. Katie Ayers featured in the picture with lucky winner Bruce.

The league of friends will celebrate fifty years of friendship and support for the patients and staff of Heatherwood hospital in February 2008. the league has commissioned a special mug which will be given away to patients by the radio service throughout the coming year. Any patient making a request each night will be put into a draw and the lucky winner will receive this special edition mug. The mug giveaways by the radio service was started in 1993.

The league is pleased to announce a new fundraising venture.
Exciting news! We're delighted to announce our fundraising webshop.
When shopping online, you can access over 100 leading retailers using our webshop. Every time someone uses our webshop when shopping online, they will automatically earn money for us! They don't pay anything extra by using our webshop.
This new an easy way to support your league of friends will help us raise much needed funds for our voluntary work at Heatherwood.
Please take time to browse the on-line shop and remember all purchases made will ensure the league receives funding for all it's services at Heatherwood Hospital.
Do tell your family and friends they can also help support the hospital by shopping with the league, using this web site.

The new staff laundry funded by the league of friends is opened for use.

The laundry replaces the laundry operated by the league of friends in heatherwood house. Once running costs have been deducted any profit will be used to fund projects on the hospital for patients and staff.

The changing shape and outlook at Heatherwood is being driven by the building work on new staff accommodation and houses.
A walk around the site on Saturday 14th April 2007 has produced some major changes to the outlook from various points of the site.

The league of friends recently handed over a cheque for £12,000 to Chairman of the trust Dr Tim Lincoln.
The money is available to the trust for the coming gift allocation 2007/2008.
2008-2009 Gifts
March 2007
The league of friends has now added the option to accept on-line donations to the league. Visitors to the leagues web site can now make an on-line donation. The service is administered by the Charities Aid Foundation who through their web site will handle all of the secure transactions.
The league hopes the ease in which visitors to the web sites can donate, will encourage visitors to help the league maintain it's services at the hospital. Patients and their families, past present and future all benefit from the work of the league and it's volunteers.
