Staff at Heatherwood Hospital were delighted when members of the Heatherwood League of Friends paid them an impromptu visit yesterday to present them with early Christmas presents.
The festive three visited wards and departments and gave each a monetary present as a token to thank them for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Chairman of the League, Roy Ryman said, “We know the staff at Heatherwood work tirelessly to provide excellent care for their patients, and we feel it is important they know the work they do is recognised and appreciated. We hope our thank you presents will enable them to share a little Christmas cheer with colleagues.”

“What a lovely surprise to welcome our friends from the League to our unit and we thank them for their generosity. They are fantastic supporters of the hospital and often purchase additional pieces of equipment to enhance the care we provide to our patients,” commented Rena Johnson, Sister pre-operative assessment. “Earlier this year the League very kindly bought a special chair for our unit to allow us to take pre-operative blood samples then and there, so patients don’t need to make an extra trip to our phlebotomy department. We are also excitedly waiting delivery of a new TV they have donated to the department.”

The league's on line donation service has been moved to the new on-line service operated by BT.
Donations were formerly collected by the charity giving Dove trust.
Due to actions by the Dove trust, the league has been forced into moving it's collection services to an established service “MYDonate” operated by BT.
This will allow the league of friends to receive on-line donations without any costs being incurred.
