I can't be certain of the dates but I was probably a patient between 1950-52. I have vague memories of my hospital stay, but I do remember the name Dr. Ahern being mentioned by my parents.

Dear Secretary,
A recent conversation with my 88 year old mother about my childhood illness prompted me to search for a web site detailing Heatherwood Hospital. I can't tell you how surprised and delighted I was to find your site.
My dates are sketchy (as is Mom's memory!) but between the ages of 12-18 months old (1948-1949) I was diagnosed with tuberculosis of my left hip. At that time we were living in Dunoon, Scotland and I was admitted to Mearnskirk Hospital where I think I underwent surgery and was subsequently placed in a spica cast. In the meantime my father took a job in London and arrangements were made for my transfer via ambulance and train to Heatherwood where my treatment was continued.
Heatherwood Patient
Mom says I looked forward to their weekend visits and always expected a tube of Smarties. On the occasional visits where she was unable to find them I was reported to have had the worst temper tantrums the nurses had ever witnessed!
Emigrate
My family emigrated to Canada when I was 9 years old and in 1957?58 I had a femoral osteotomy at Montreal Children's Hospital. My last surgery in 1966 was a hip fusion performed in Santa Maria, California.
Help
I am currently living in Southern Pines, North Carolina where I have been a practicing Paediatrician for the last 37yrs. I would love to hear from anyone who might be able to verify my care at Heatherwood and share pictures or stories from that time period.
Thanks in advance for your help.
