Ruby Brook Heatherwood Hospital
Heatherwood School Teacher
The following letters are an insight into the esteem in which Ruby Brook was held not only by her pupils but by parents of patients in her charge.
The two letters here, written in November 1948.
Dear Miss Brook
I am sorry I have not written to you before now. I have been at school for about a month now. They put me in the top class. Please give my love to all the girls. I have started brownies once more. We have revels every Thursday. We are going to have a play on December 2nd.
Last week we had a jumble sale at Brownies. Hope you are all well and have a Happy Christmas. Well I must close now as I have got to go to bed now
Cheerio all the best

Carole
Dear Miss Brook
As Carole has written to you , I have taken this opportunity of writing too.
I wish to thank you for what you did for her. I am pleased to say that Carole is now in the top class at her school.
When my wife took her to see the head mistress it was arranged that Carole was to be put with her old class mates and then on starting school she took Carole’s books from Heatherwood, on seeing these the headmistress wanted to know if Carole had written them with her left hand, and if she had a different teacher for different subjects, anyway she said Carole was well advanced and that all she could do was to place her in the top class with the girls of eleven.
I need not tell you of our feelings so I take this opportunity once again and thank you
I remain
Yours Sincerely G Fenton
